The renovated apartment presents a realm of refined nostalgia, where architectural ingenuity, contemporary design, heritage and and sentimental repurposing converge.

On the right, a custom-made sauna beckons with transparent walls, providing a soothing retreat while offering glimpses of the adjacent books. The sauna's transparency allows for an interplay of light and shadow, creating an ethereal ambiance. The transparent walls of the sauna provide an intriguing backdrop to the bookcase and the living room.

The ceiling, left in its raw concrete state, adds a textural backdrop against the warmth of the space.

The bookcase, a focal point of the living area, with a reddish hue that adds warmth, appears both light and airy, thanks to its open design.

The old dining table, meticulously altered to harmonize with the dimensions of the space, seamlessly merges with contemporary materials.

Integrated within the bookcase is a flexible work desk, a clever addition that transforms the space into a versatile space for creativity. The fusion of workspace and library create a space, where work and leisure coexist seamlessly.

Throughout the apartment, the grandparents' cherished pieces are revitalized with new materials and dimensions, their purpose transformed to suit the contemporary narrative. The bathroom houses both the vintage ice barrel and old chandeliers.

Lighting plays a pivotal role, with repurposed vintage fixtures casting a warm glow in specific corners, while subtle ambient lighting bathes the rest of the space in a soft radiance. The result is a harmonious blend of old and new, breathing new life into cherished family narratives.

This apartment is more than a dwelling; every element tells a story of transformation and continuity, creating a space that is at once nostalgic and contemporary.
