In central Kallithea, a five-level office block has been reimagined into 33 refined urban residences. This architectural metamorphosis responds to the needs of students and young professionals, offering compact living spaces that range from 28 to 44 square meters.
The building’s original form presented a spatial challenge: a narrow floorplate with limited exposure to natural light. Instead of limiting the number of apartments, the design introduced a solar patio at the core of the structure. This void now orchestrates the flow of sunlight across all levels, enhancing spatial quality and imbuing each apartment with a luminous and warm ambiance.
Every apartment embodies a balance between functionality and design precision. Spatial layout, materials, and openings have been selected to enhance daily life while expressing a quiet elegance. Interior spaces breathe through simple volumes, generous glazing, and subtle material contrasts.
The transformation proposes a new model for urban living in Athens. Within a modest footprint, the building now hosts 33 living units without compromise in spatial experience. The intervention restores life to a dormant building and delivers a new architecture of light, scale, and urban tactility.
