Our house was a traditional, urban, stone-made house + 100 years old that have never gone through a major renovation. We always loved its location and the property around it, but it lacked major facilities and it was not in good condition. During summertime, staying was easier since we spent most our time on the veranda overlooking the pine and pistachio trees and used the house just for our overnight sleep. We randomly stayed in the house during wintertime and only for a couple of days as it was humid and cold, we could not warm it up. Our dream for years (actually decades) was to find a good architect who could listen to our needs and respect the character of the house while offer us a practical, easy to maintain house with lots of open space and as much storage space as possible. Too much to ask? Yes, but not for Natalia!!!

Our new house is a dream come true! It is the most beautiful, airy, unconventional, traditional, fabulous house that we could only dream in our wildest dreams. We can’t get enough of our house, we enjoy every moment in it, summer and winter the same! It is spacious (although only 50 cm2 in total), airy, sunny, respecting its traditional image by keeping old artifacts (like the floor), revealing and restoring the stone walls while introducing new beautiful features like the ‘benitses’ and the hidden lights that shed a beautiful light all over the house. We enjoy everything in our house, from cooking in the traditional kitchen, reading in the hall area, sleeping in our built-in beds to working in the living room.

Natalia is an excellent listener and a talented designer with deep knowledge of the cultural features that should be enhanced or brought into existence. All her ideas, even those we have never considered ourselves and seemed a bit strange at the time, made sense in the end! I remember I was somehow worried that a wall with inlaid holes would diminish the available space and look out of place, but Natalia asked us to reflect on this option while offering us another option as well. I am so glad we trusted her initial proposal!

I would suggest that you trust Natalia’s proposals! Natalia always listen carefully to your needs, she will never propose something that will not satisfy your needs in the end.

Natalia combines several good characteristics that made her the ideal designer for our house: beyond an exquisite architect, she is a talented artist, her main aim being to facilitate our life in the house and design a beautiful house by studying every detail and considering all the daily activities in the house. From the stylish beam lights above the beds with the easily accessible switch, to the open cupboard with its inlay bottom and the inlaid wall for showing old artifacts and storing daily objects everything was well thought and designed with love! Even the colour palette was chosen with love with a view to enhance the life of every object in the house.

how were you feeling in your old house in Aegina?

Rather uncomfortable because we saw for a long time its deficiencies and what it needed to become a real “home”.

how do you feel in your new house?

We cannot describe it with words: our dream to renovate became true and we feel like king/queen in it. We enjoy staying in it all the time!”

Natalia designed my home in Athens. She was there to consult me from purchase to construction. When others said don't buy this home, Natalia saw the potential. I feel very positive about the final outcome. Based on the design and the ideas you have shared with me, I believe the space will reflect my artistic nature while serving as a functional live-work studio.

Sharing common ground on aesthetics and understanding my needs as both an artist and a homeowner made the communication process smooth and enjoyable.

How do you expect to feel in your new Studio-Gallery-house?

This space is a lifelong dream come true. Having a combined studio and apartment, along with a garden space at the back where I can sit, care for plants, and have a bit of outdoor ground for myself, is exhilarating. I can’t wait to step into it.

Your previous works displayed on Instagram, your architectural philosophy, and your passion for retro elements combined with touches of folklore inspired by traditional Greek architecture captivated me. I also appreciated how you integrate nature and modern materials into your projects, which made me confident in collaborating with you to renovate my space.
